What We Learned Today...January 15th

ELA: This morning we spent the first half of the period reading the 1948 short story, "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. This was a really intriguing story as it contains many of the characteristics of dystopian societies as well as a shocking twist at the end! During the second half of the class the students worked in their groups to discuss the story and work through a couple of response questions about the story. Both the story and the assignment can be found ont the ELA tab located at the top of the blog.

Homework Period: With the band students away, the remaining students were given the entire period to work on their Matrix blog posts and any other homework they have.

Star Testing: After lunch the students took their mid-year STAR reading tests so we can see how much they've grown since the beginning of the year.
