What We Learned Today...October 14th

ELA: This morning we started out the morning with our usual AR period from 9:00 - 9:30 before going through the "Defying the Gods" assignment that was handed back today.  We spent some time talking about key area's that will help improve future writing assignments such as adding supporting details, proper punctuation and ensuring answers are written in complete sentences.

Mass at Christ the King: After lunch we headed to the church for a wonderful Thanksgiving mass.  A special thanks to Ms. Goulet-Brown's and Ms. Kalynchuk's classes for all their hard work in preparing today's service.

History in the Making!: During the last half hour of the day we gathered back in our classroom and watched two innings of the Toronto Blue Jays playoff game.

Amazing  Opportunity:

I was recently contacted by Dr. Zisis Papandreou, who is a Physics Professor at the University of Regina and who also happens to be the husband of fellow Deshaye staff member, Mrs. Papandreou. Not only has Dr. Papandreou has offered to visit our classroom on Friday to give an amazing presentation on Greek Mythology, but has also offered to take our class to the Observatory at the University of Regina for some stargazing.  This would be a evening field trip, and students would need to be back at Deshaye by 6:30 p.m. so we can take a bus to the University of Regina for 7:00 p.m.  The trip would last approximately two hours and students would be bussed back to Deshaye between 9:00 - 9:30.  Unfortunately this trip is entirely dependent on the weather so Dr. Papandreou is unable to give me an exact date for trip and will only be able to give me one to two days notice.  It is important to note that this is a completely optional field trip so please don't feel obligated to come if you are unable to attend.  Once Dr. Papendreou emails me I will let the students know and will post the date on the blog to get an idea of how many students are able to attend.
