What We Learned Today...September 20th

Today we had Accelerated Reading for the first half hour of the day, during which some students began taking their AR tests and earing points.  We discussed how the school goal for AR this year was for all Grade 7/8s to reach at least 150 points! However since Mr. Bresciani and his class are very competitive, we are going to shoot for even higher!  After AR we continued a discussion on people who have "Stepped Up" with a specific focus on Craig Kielburger and the organizaiton and movement he started with "Free The Children".  We then took part in a viewing activity where students watched two short Youtube clips ("Free the Children Introduction" and "Free the Children Documentary") and were asked to respond to prompts on an accompyaning handout. 
During Math all 7/8 students took their STAR tests on the laptops in the Library with Mrs. Folk.

Graphics Assignment from today

After lunch we continued to work on our introductory conversations in French.  (Students will have one more class period to work on their conversation with their partners)  Unfortunately Mr. Csada was away today for Science, but they were elated to have Mr. Pringle back as their substitute teacher.  For the last hour of the day the students had Arts. Ed with Ms. Norris and worked on Graphing and Shapes.
