What We Learned Today...October 6th

We kicked off our week this morning with a quick school wide assembly in the gym before heading back to class for a shortened AR period.  Once AR ended we switched to ELA where we finally got back to our Harry Potter unit now that assessments are finished up.  For today's class the students were tasked by the fictional Cornelius Fudge (The Minister of Magic) to create an advertisement for Diagon Alley to help boost business.  At 10:35 the students had Phys. Ed with Mr. Fuchs and they began their second unit which focuses on the sport of Tchoukball. In Health continued where we left off last week by looking at what exactly Body Image is and examining the stereotypes that males and females face.

After lunch we had Religion and the students began to work on their Human Rights Activist Assignment which is a fitting conclusion to our unit on Identity.  In Grade 8 Math we spent some time getting all the students set up on IXL so they can start working on extra Math practice at home or in their free time at school.  During the last hour of the day we had Science and picked up exactly where we left off last week by reviewing shadows before investigating the Law of Reflection.  Students were also informed about a future assignment that tasks them with using their knowledge of the Law of Reflection to reflect a light through a dark maze using mirrors.
