What We Learned Today...October 10th

Our AR character,  Rumpelstiltskin!

This morning we had our usual AR period from 9:08 to 9:38 before moving on to ELA. In ELA we continued to work our way through the Greek Mythology unit by looking at the Myth of Arachne and Athene.  We also watched another corny cartoon called "Defying the Gods" that depicted the myth as well some other greek myths that we studied earlier in the unit.  Students were also given a small viewing assignment to work on while they watched the video.  These assignments will be due on Tuesday, October 15th.

In Grade 8 Math we continued to learn about the Pythagorean Relationship before beginning an assignment from the textbook.  The students were also treated to a guest teacher today as Darth Vader gave a small presentation on the Pythagorean Relationship as well as the "Dark Side" of a Right Triangle (Hypotenuse).
Check out Darth Vader below:

After lunch the students had Phys.Ed with Mr. Fuchs and worked on their circuit training before participating in a game that worked on specific football skills.  Instead of Science today, we had Religion and the students began to work on their Creation Story Project.  During the last hour of the day we had a school wide assembly in the gym to officially kick off our AR Fairytale theme.  The students were also treated to some wonderful acting (and one really scary costume) in a play that was performed by the staff at Deshaye.
