What We Learned Today...September 4th

Working on the Multiple Intelligence's assignment!

We kicked off the day today with a school wide assembly in the gym for the annual QSP presentation by Jeff, who talked about all the cool things the students can earn by selling magazines to help fund raise for Deshaye.   Once the presentation ended we headed straight back to the class for a shortened ELA class and began to read the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone together.  After recess Mr. Fuchs took the class to the gym for the first Phys. Ed class of the year before Ms. Postma stopped by for Arts Ed.

After lunch we had Religion, and to tie in with our theme "How do I belong?", the students participated in a Multiple Intelligence activity where they discovered a lot about what type of learner they are. In Grade 8 Math the students took a quick quiz using "Socrative" (on the board due to tech problems!) to see how well they grasped the content from the video, before beginning their first assignment of the year.  (Full assignment details can be found below)  During the last hour of the day we had Social Studies and started our unit on Resource and Wealth by looking at what things in our world are "wants" and what things are "needs.
