What We Learned Today...March 27th

Our Seder Meal today.

Battle of the Classes update: I'm very pleased to say our class is now up to 13.3 AR Points Per Student.  The students have really kicked it into high gear this past week and have really been piling on the AR points which is awesome!  With one more day and two classes right behind us, only time will tell who the ultimate winner will be of the Battle of the Classes.  However, I would like to say that regardless of the outcome I am very proud of our class in this competition. Everyone did their part this month and we managed to beat our goal initial goal of 10 AR Points which is outstanding!

This morning we started out our day with our usual AR period from 9:00 - 9:30 before we headed to the Library for a very special class.  Today the students were treated to a  Seder Meal prepared by Mr. Meyers.  We were very fortunate to have him come visit today as he taught the students all about the Jewish Passover and how it connects to our faith as Catholics through the sharing of this meal.  The Seder meal consisted of numerous parts: Grape Juice (Symbolize Wine), Parsley, Apple Chunks, Horseradish and Unleavened bread.  If you would like to read more about a Seder Meal please click on the hyper-link above.

During Grade 8 Math we finished up our Mission Possible activity with all "Mission Teams" discovering all 6 Mystery Locations as well as the final Extremely Mysterious Location.  After we finished up with Mission Possible the students continued to work on Handout 6.5.  *Note: We will have our Unit test on Friday, April 12th.

After Lunch the students had Arts. Ed and the students created various tableau's on different Fairy Tales that were read to them last class. At 1:15 we switched French for Social and started Stage Three of our Colinization Unit, which was WAR!  This was by far the biggest scale event so far in this unit as the French and the Algonquian waged war against the British and the Plains.  While the British and the Plains came out victorious, there were many casualties on both sides that will have a large impact on the rest of the unit.

During the last hour of the day the students had Phys. Ed and played a couple rounds of trash can basketball before heading back to the class.  To end their day the students spent the last part of Phys. Ed working through some handouts dealing with the skeletal system.
